During a time when teacher attrition is high and students are struggling with a myriad of factors including trauma and learning loss during the pandemic, motivational presentations like that of Kevin Cripe, retired educator, are needed to inspire and motivate teachers and districts to move forward through tough times with hope and a strong belief in our students’ ability to persevere.

Having witnessed firsthand the enthusiasm and confidence Kevin’s students demonstrate in learning and competing in chest activities, I can attest to all the success that his students have achieved. But this motivating, heartfelt presentation goes far beyond chess, providing a blueprint for helping students successfully navigate their own path towards college, adulthood and beyond.

Elementary School Principal, Modesto City Schools (1990-2006)

Kevin H Cripe

I spent most of my adult life teaching elementary school in Modesto California. The area around the school was a high poverty area with all the social ills associated with poverty. There were shootings on many weekends, teen pregnancy and an absence of concern by many elected leaders. As I retired to Panama I thought about, “Why is that?” It is not always easy to explain to children where some of our elected leaders come from. Hopefully , this story will help parents be able to talk to their children about what they see on tv.
